Friday Reads: Needful Things

One day last week I found myself with an unexpected block of free time on a beautiful day. But, to my horror, I had left my book at home on my nightstand. So there I was on a sunny afternoon with nowhere in particular to be but with no book to keep me company. I suppose I could have done something else with my time, like go to see a movie or try to meet up with a friend. But I really felt like sitting down under a tree somewhere with a book. So I walked over to the nearest bookstore and went straight to the Stephen King section, since he’s my go-to author for reliably good stories. I went with Needful Things because it’s been on my TBR list for years and they only had one mass market paperback edition left, so I figured it was meant to be. I’ve been working on this 900-page book for a week now but I don’t think it will take me much longer because I’m pretty involved with the residents of Castle Rock at this point and I need to know how this story ends.
