Since we’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover (which I do anyway, on a pretty regular basis), I’m pretty sure we’re also not supposed to judge a book by its title. But sometimes doing what you’re not supposed to do totally pays off. As is the case with Peter Nimble and his Fantastic Eyes by Jonathan Auxier. I decided to read this book simply because the title was so intriguing, and I’m so glad I did because I’ve really enjoyed taking this little adventure with Peter. The writing is clever, imaginative, and sometimes a little dark. And you have to appreciate the amazing first line: “Now, for those of you who know anything about blind children, you are aware that they make the very best thieves.” I’m already looking forward to reading Auxier’s book The Night Gardener (again, great title).
What are you reading?
