I’m a real sucker for books like Mark Schatzker’s The Dorito Effect. Ever since I read Salt Sugar Fat I’ve been really interested in the science behind food and taste. I’m often surprised at how many people read books like this and take absolutely nothing away from them. I don’t understand how you can sit through hundreds of pages on a subject like this and not walk away with a new understanding of how food works. I’m guessing many people just want to lose weight when they pick up a book like The Dorito Effect, but that’s not why I’m reading it. I’m just interested in all aspects of food, from the production to the marketing. If that’s also what you’re into, then you’ll probably enjoy this book.
