Scary Books

I am that girl who goes around saying that she loves scary things but who really doesn’t. I hate scary movies and I don’t usually read scary books. I guess I’m just not the type that can be terrified one minute and just fine the next. It sticks with me and then I find myself lying awake at night unable to sleep. And I love to sleep.

Against my better judgement, I have read a few books that have really scared me and these are my top three:

1. The Shining – Stephen King
I’ve read this book several times and it continues to terrify me. To this day I can always scare myself when I’m staying at a hotel just by thinking of room 237.

2. American Psycho – Bret Easton Ellis
If you’ve read this book, you know what I’m talking about. It is the most disturbing book I’ve ever read and in turn I’m scared just by looking at the cover.

3. Intensity – Dean Koontz
This is the only Koontz book I’ve ever read and there is a possibility it would no longer scare me since I read it when I was much younger, but from what I remember this fast-paced thriller kept me up at night and introduced me to the idea of serial killers.

I’d love to hear some scary book suggestions even though I make no guarantee that I’ll actually read them!

Happy Halloween!
