You may have heard of author Annabel Lyon and her new book The Golden Mean because it has been banned by BC Ferries due to the nudity on the cover. Here are a few reasons you should have heard of her and the book that have nothing to do with what’s on the cover:
– The Golden Mean won the 2009 Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize and was a finalist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, the Governor General’s Literary Award for Fiction, and the Amazon.ca/Books in Canada First Novel Award (among many others).
– Annabel Lyon has a great blog. She posts often and honestly about what it took to get this book done, including her thoughts on this whole book ban in BC.
– Annabel Lyon put in a crazy amount of research for this project and has pulled off writing a book about Aristotle and Alexander the Great in a way that no one has done before. Check out the YouTube clip below for a taste of what went in to writing The Golden Mean.
