I’ve been a volunteer with the Toronto International Film Festival for a few years now. I used to just attend the festival as a regular ticket holder, but now that I’ve seen the behind-the-scenes action I’m hooked. It’s also fun to meet a bunch of people who love film and, more importantly, love talking about film. No one-word reviews from this crowd. TIFF volunteers will go into details about what they liked and didn’t like for every movie they saw. And usually, that’ s a lot.
Last year during the festival I managed to see a ton of movies, but this year it hasn’t been as easy for me to schedule in all the ones I really wanted to see. There are five films in particular that I really wanted to watch, and surprise surprise, they’re all based on books.
