I didn’t know who Alana Massey was before I signed up for her Skillshare class, The Creative Art of Pitching Stories. After taking the class (it was great, by the way), I became curious about her writing, so I read a bunch of her essays online (and she’s written a lot) and then put a hold on her book, All the Lives I Want, at the library. I finally got my hands on the book this week and I’m about halfway finished already. I appreciate Alana’s take on issues around women, celebrity, and identity. There’s obviously a lot out there on those subjects, but she has a pretty unique take on things. A couple of standout essays for me so far include the ones on Sylvia Plath and Courtney Love, and I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the book this weekend.
