Since I brought my puppy home a couple of weeks ago, I haven’t been able to get much reading done. By the time he’s sleeping at night and I can finally curl up in bed with a book, I’m so exhausted from the day that I can barely read five pages. So I’m actually pretty happy that the book I happen to be reading right now is one with a unique format that is conducive to my current lack of attention span. Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life by Amy Krouse Rosenthal consists of short entries describing moments and observations, all organized from A to Z. You can start reading anywhere, and there’s even some cross-referencing going on, but I’d recommend starting at the beginning. In my pre-puppy days I could have read this in one sitting. But I’m taking my time with it, because puppies are ridiculously cute and one day I’ll think of this time in my life and miss it.
