I’ve been waiting for my library hold on the audiobook recording for Nicole Dennis-Benn’s Here Comes the Sun for what feels like a very long time. So when I finally got it loaded onto my phone this week I was very excited to start listening. If you’re thinking of reading this book I recommend the audio version because Bahni Turpin is a fantastic narrator. She does an exceptional job with the local Jamaican dialect and really brings the characters to life. But if you think this book will be a light and happy read based on its title, think again. It’s not uncommon to hear this book described as “heart-wrenching”.
