Ever since I saw Shane Salerno’s documentary, I’ve wanted to learn more about the mystical writer we all know as J.D. Salinger. Then I read the memoir My Salinger Year by Joanna Rakoff and it piqued my interest even more. So I picked up a copy of the Salinger biography by Kenneth Slawenski because I’ve heard good things about it. It must have been pretty tough to research this bio, since Salinger was an incredibly private man. But now that I’m almost done reading it, I definitely have a better appreciation of his writing and I’d like to reread everything he ever wrote.
