Friday Reads: Sourdough

Posted by

I’ve been obsessed with sourdough since I took my first artisan bread class at George Brown College last year. That’s where I learned about starting and maintaining a sourdough starter, and I’m happy to report that I’ve kept mine alive and kicking since then. I’m on a bi-weekly bake schedule with it, and I haven’t really had to buy bread in a very long time. Making your own bread is so fulfilling, and needless to say your home smells amazing on bake days. As soon as I heard that Robin Sloan was writing a book entitled Sourdough, I knew I’d have to get my hands on it as soon as it came out. I’ve been reading it all this week and I’m really enjoying it so far, although I’m not sure if that’s only because of my bread obsession. I’d be curious to hear what non-bakers think of this book. And if you’ve read Sourdough and want to start baking bread, check out some of my recommended bread books.
