Here are a few things I didn’t know about Lisa Cron. I didn’t know Story Genius: How to use brain science to go beyond outlining and write a riveting novel (Before you waste three years writing 327 pages that go nowhere) is her second book, a follow-up to Wired For Story, which I’ve never read. I didn’t know she gave a TEDx Talk about Wired For Story, which you can watch here. And I also didn’t know that Lisa Cron has a video tutorial on lynda.com called Writing Fundamentals: The Craft of Story, which I will 100% be watching. So, in short, I’ve learned a lot about Lisa Cron since picking up a copy of Story Genius. I’m really hoping this book can help me with my work-in-progress. So far I appreciate her no-bullshit approach to writing. This isn’t about prettier sentences or plot outlines. This is about writing the kind of story that people want to read.
