Friday Reads: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I’m really surprised this book is getting so much hype. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo is basically a book telling you to get rid of your stuff, and from my experience people really don’t like to hear that. I’ve always been organized. Even as a teenager I would go through my friends’ closets and tell them what to toss and what to keep. And what’s worse is that I actually enjoyed it and still do. I love going through my closets and making a pile of clothes to donate. But while I appreciate how much Marie Kondo cares about this process of decluttering, and while I recognize how much of a difference it can make in someone’s life, this book doesn’t really live up to my expectations. I suppose if you’re a disorganized person then reading this book might help you. But I think I’ll stick to my own methods for organizing for the time being.
