Grammatically incorrect song titles

Posted by

This week, I finished up with a grammar course that I was taking, and the last handout my teacher gave us was all about ungrammatical song titles. Here are a few of my favourites:

“Between You and I” by Jessica Simpson
People say this all the time, but it’s actually wrong. It all comes down to the dreaded pronoun. For a great explanation of why this song title is wrong, have a look at this Grammar Girl post.

“Lay, Lady, Lay” by Bob Dylan
It’s an easy rule, but it’s also easy to forget: you lay something down, and people lie down by themselves. For a more in-depth explanation, have a look this Grammar Girl post.

“The Way I Are” by Timbaland
Seriously? Great song, but come on.
