Judge the book cover: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

When my book club got together to discuss our latest pick, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, I was amazed that each one of us had a different version of the classic book.

I’ve always like the 1980 US edition, featured on the Out of Print tee, but no one had that particular cover. And no one had Pan’s 70th-anniversary special edition with the bright retro design, which might actually be my favourite.

I’d borrowed a copy from someone else because I wasn’t sure I wanted to buy it. Truthfully, even though I’ve always heard such good things about Hitchhiker’s, I didn’t think I would like it.

Funny fiction isn’t always my thing. I really liked Where’d You Go, Bernadette and The Rosie Project, but I couldn’t get into Good Omens, which people always recommend to me.

But I ended up liking The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy a lot more than I thought I would. So I’m considering buying a copy for my collection, because who knows, maybe one day I’ll read it again and enjoy it even more.
