“I want you to believe…to believe in things that you cannot.”
Bram Stoker
If you’ve seen the Google doodle today then you already know that it’s Bram Stoker’s birthday. The Irish writer is best known for his novel Dracula, but in addition to creating probably the best-known vampire in history, Bram Stoker also wrote novels, short stories and non-fiction books, including Famous Impostors and Personal Reminiscences of Henry Irving. But it’s interesting that at the time of his death he was best known for being the manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London and Sir Henry Irving’s close friend and adviser. Stoker had no idea what Dracula would go on to become.
In honour of his 165th birthday, here are a few interesting Bram Stoker items I found on Etsy.
