I took a friend up on a last-minute invite to a cottage this past weekend because I firmly believe that you should always say “yes” to a weekend escape in the summer. I knew the weather wasn’t going to be great but I didn’t really mind because rainy days at a cottage are the perfect excuse to stay inside and get some serious reading done. As usual at this time of year, I have a huge list of books that I’d like to get through during the summer months. I brought up Orphan Train, the top book on that list, and demolished it on day one (good thing I had Irving Stone’s The Agony and the Ecstasy up there with me as well). While I’m certainly not hoping for a cold, rainy summer, I am hoping to have more weekends with good books, friends, and food.
