There was a time when you couldn’t walk down the streets of New York without seeing the distinctive blue and white design of the Anthora. Leslie Buck designed the paper cup in the 60s, and for years it was how New Yorkers carried their coffee around the city.
I came across this ceramic version of the iconic cup and instantly fell in love. I want this for my desk because not only will it make me feel like I’m in New York, but it also honours my Greek heritage in a cheeky way. Not to mention the fact that the simple message on the cup makes me smile.
This cup is even more interesting when you hear about the life of its designer. Have a look at this article from the New York Times to learn more about Leslie Buck.
